Construction Ambassador Sue speaks to girls at The Winstanley School

Danaher & Walsh's SHEQ Manager Sue Southam has visited The Winstanley School in Braunstone, Leicester, to deliver a talk to girls about careers in construction.

Sue carried out the visit as part of her role as a CITB Construction Ambassador. Sue is one of seven trained Construction Ambassadors at Danaher & Walsh.

The visit was organised by Blaby District Council and included representatives from a number of local businesses in the construction industry, each of whom gave a presentation.

The purpose of the event was to highlight to female students the career opportunities available in the construction industry, the benefits of working in the sector and the educational pathways available.

Speaking about the visit, Sue Southam said: "As a woman working in construction, I'm very pleased to contribute towards inspiring young women to consider a career in our industry.

"The industry was traditionally male-dominated, but a huge amount of work is being done to encourage diversity. There is a huge range of different careers within the construction and it's our duty to communicate this message to young people."
