COMPANY STATEMENT: Suspension of Non-Essential Construction Operations

The Prime Minister’s recent announcements have signalled the introduction of more stringent restrictions on us all and have specifically indicated that members of the public should only leave their home for very limited purposes. The message indicates that we should travel to and from work only where it is absolutely necessary.

Although construction is currently being allowed to continue, Danaher & Walsh’s management team has carefully considered both the meaning and the spirit of the Prime Minister’s statement, along with guidance from both Public Health England and the World Health Organisation together with updates by the Health Secretary, to follow the advice of social distancing and abiding by essential travel requirements

We have come to the conclusion that it is absolutely necessary for us, as a responsible company, to take actions to safely and securely close down our operational sites by this Friday 27th March 2020.

This means that our site teams will close down all of our non-essential works over the next two days, ensuring that safety and security is of the highest standard. We will continue to monitor the sites via CCTV and undertake site visits whilst observing social distancing procedures.

This ‘lockdown’ period is currently of indeterminate length; we will take guidance from Government and health organisations as to when it will be determined safe to return to normal operations.

For clarity ‘essential works’ refers to our current arrangements with several water companies, and these activities will continue in the case of emergency works only.

Head office and support functions will continue with staff members working from home wherever possible.

We would like to thank our employees, customers and supply chain members for their understanding and support through these unprecedented and challenging times. It is important we take every precaution possible to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone.
