Key aims and challenges

Whinmoor Grange Horticultural Plant Production Nursery is a new facility being constructed for Leeds City Council in order to provide an environment in which to grow plants for the council's own use.

The vast greenhouse will facilitate the production of two million bedding plants and 250,000 edible plants per annum. Surplus stock will be offered for sale to the public in a dedicated visitor and retail area, providing an income stream for Leeds City Council.

Danaher & Walsh's scope of works included the installation of drainage and the construction of a total of 5,560m2 of concrete slabs to form a base for the greenhouse.
