Key aims and challenges
Turncole Wind Farm is a new seven turbine scheme, which, when completed, will generate up to 17.5MW of electricity to supply the National Grid.
A 3km farm track leading to the Crouch estuary was widened to facilitate the delivery by boat of the giant turbine components. This involved installing a new culvert and dry stone headwall, which is designed to encourage wildlife.
After the turbine deliveries took place, the farm track was reinstated to its previous condition. The works required 1,000 tonnes of MOT Type 1 aggregate, which was subsequently recycled in the construction of the wind farm.
How did we do?
Danaher & Walsh worked in conjunction with local landowners and farmers to minimise disruption to their day-to-day activities during the construction works.
