Key aims and challenges

The contract also involved the careful demolition of the previous leisure centre - known as Westbridge Park Fitness Centre - to make way for the new car park.

The new leisure centre, which was opened in April 2019, was constructed alongside the old fitness centre, in order to provide continuity of facilities for customers.

One the other side of the Westbridge Park site is a brand M&S Food retail unit. The resulting compactness of the works area meant that careful planning and execution of both demolition and construction works was critical.

Construction of the new car park comprised installation of drainage, kerbing. surfacing, lining and street lighting. The new car park provides 74 spaces for leisure centre users.
