Key aims and challenges

The construction of the Norwich Distributor Road has opened a number of major sites as ripe for development. One such site is Heath Farm.

In order to open up access to the site, Danaher & Walsh constructed a 350m access road from a stub on an existing roundabout.

The road was constructed to adoptable standards to allow the possibility of future adoption. The scope of works included surface water and foul water drainage and the installation of street lighting.

Additionally, as part of the drainage strategy for the site, Danaher & Walsh constructed a substantial balancing lagoon and filtration trenches.

The earthworks requirement for the site included the removal of a mound of earth, which was found to be contaminated with asbestos. Specialist contractors were employed to safely remove the asbestos waste.

Danaher & Walsh worked in close cooperation with Norfolk County Council to ensure the project was completed safely and on time.
