Key aims and challenges
The works involved forming an entrance into the retail park from London Road, a busy road on the southern side of Wellingborough.
A fully traffic signalised junction was constructed, including splitter islands, pedestrian crossings and filter lanes, all to Northamptonshire County Council standards for adoption.
Highway drainage was constructed and diversion of existing services took place. The new junction was macadam surfaced and white lining applied. Works took place under traffic management, which was carefully designed to minimise disruption on this busy route.
