Key aims and challenges
Tungsten Properties is a Leicestershire-based developer of commercial properties across the UK. M1 Access is a high-specification logistics unit featuring 116,000m2 of warehousing space plus office, car parking and dock-level loading bays.
The site is located immediately adjacent to J20 of the M1 motorway.
The Section 278 highways works involved forming an entrance to the site from the A4303 road - which is the primary access route from the M1 to Lutterworth and the nearby Magna Park.
A signalised traffic junction was constructed including a splitter island. The footway was diverted and tied-in to the existing.
Because of the importance of the route and its proximity to the M1 motorway, traffic management was prohibited during daytime hours. All works to the existing carriageway were therefore carried out overnight and the traffic management removed before the morning.
