Key aims and challenges
The works comprised major improvements to the the junction of the A1067 Fakenham Road, Beech Avenue and Fir Covert Road, by widening the carriageways, constructing splitter islands and installing new traffic signals, street lighting and traffic signs.
A new adoptable access road and mini roundabout was constructed off Fir Covert Road under a Section 38 agreement, which not only serves as the entrance to the new store, but also provides access to an existing kindergarten and a new nursing home.
All works were carried out while keeping the highways fully open thanks to carefully planned works phasing and traffic management works.
A key feature of this project was maintaining relations with local residents, which, thanks to the efforts of our site team, was a great success.
