Key aims and challenges

Optimus Point is a brand new prime warehousing and distribution site, developed by Wilson Bowden Developments, located directly off junction 21a of the M1 motorway south west of Leicester.

Prior to the construction of Boden's state-of-the art new distribution centre, Section 278 highway works had to be carried out to enable the plot development.

As well as forming an entrance to the site, the works included construction of new footways, utilities infrastructure and installation of new street lighting.

Sewer diversion works we carried out to Severn Trent Water adoptable standards as part of a Section 185 agreement.

How did we do?

Collaboration with Leicestershire County Council Highways at an early stage helped us to devise an effective traffic management strategy. Road closures were kept to an absolute minimum, with the full road construction and final surfacing completed within a one week window.
