Key aims and challenges
The scheme comprised improvements to the junction of the A1307 Babraham Road and Granham's Road.
The previous layout caused queuing of traffic turning right into Granham's Road, causing delays, in particular to buses.
The works involved the widening of the A1307 and the creation of a right-turn lane. An existing splitter island was also removed to simplify the junction.
In addition, new signage, road markings and street lighting were installed and asphalt surfacing works undertaken.
Granham's Road was closed for the duration of the works, with a diversion route implemented. The busy A1307 remained open, with traffic management used to keep traffic flowing whilst enabling the works to take place safely.
