Key aims and challenges

The work consisted of the removal of the existing carriageway and waterproofing, after which concrete repairs were carried out and a proprietary waterproofing system applied and the carriageway reconstructed.

In addition, the cast iron parapets were carefully shot blasted and repainted with due consideration to the listed status of the structure.

The project required the full reconstruction of the carriageway and extensive restoration of the original features of Old Bow Bridge.

How did we do?

Comprehensive traffic management was implement in order to minimise the impact on road users on this busy route near Leicester's city centre.

A specialist cradle solution was implemented in order provide full access to the bridge.
