Key aims and challenges
This structure is a cable stayed metal footbridge spanning the River Soar.
This programme of works required the bridge to be fully closed. A specialist, bespoke scaffold access and encapsulation system was used for access, safety and to prevent debris falling into the environmentally-sensitive watercourse.
The old wooden decking was removed and replaced. The old metal parapet was also removed and replaced.
The structure’s ‘A’ frame tower, which supports the cable stays, as well as the steel bridge beams were both surface-prepared and repainted.
