Birmingham International Airport

Overview

Following the terrorist attack at Glasgow Airport in 2007, Birmigham Airport required security improvements to the main terminal buildings. One metre high decorative bollards have been installed along the edge of the walkways outside the terminal building creating an open pedestrian concourse. High strength tubular steel, vehicle deterrent, posts are concealed within the bollards.

In conjunction with the installation of these security measures the opportunity to improve the convenience for travellers was achieved by the re-siting of the coach points nearer to the terminal buildings, with new sheltered canopies at the waiting areas. The car park nearest to the terminal has an extra 200 available spaces and now incorporates dedicated coach waiting bays.
